This program is a cooperative effort to collect oyster shell from Pensacola restaurants. This shell is then cleaned, dried and used as substrate to restore oyster reefs in the Pensacola Bay System.
This living shoreline project is an effort to restore oyster reefs and intertidal marsh habitat on Bayou Grande. This project restores an eroding shoreline and provides habitat for fish, shellfish and wading birds. Living shorelines also filter stormwater runoff.

The second grant restored 1200 linear feet of shoreline at ten (10) private shoreline properties along Bayou Texar.
The third grant is in progress and will restore 1200 feet of shoreline at eight adjoining properties along Bayou Grande. A total of 39 oyster reefs will be installed.
